As a long-time fan of the Fate of the Furycks series, I was eagerly anticipating this installment, and it definitely delivered…with a healthy dose of emotional whiplash. A.E. Rayne masterfully keeps the tension cranked up to eleven, throwing curveballs at every turn. The pacing is expertly handled; even though the book is hefty, it never felt sluggish. The constant shifting of alliances and betrayals kept me completely hooked, always wondering who to trust and what would happen next.
The sheer emotional depth of this book is staggering. Jael's heartbreak is palpable, and watching her grapple with loss and find her way forward was incredibly moving. The author has such a gift for creating characters you truly care about, and seeing them suffer – or even make questionable choices – is agonizing.
